Who we are

We are a seed-stage venture capital firm backing founders building AI-native B2B software companies. We lead nearly every round, invest $2–6 million at seed, and continue investing as the company grows. We invest in only 10 to 12 companies each year so every founder gets the full weight of our team, not just a check.

Funding Requirements

We invest in exclusively AI-native B2B software at the seed stage. Our focus includes vertical AI, proprietary data, services-to-software, fintech infrastructure, agent-native infrastructure, and businesses structurally reshaping large industries.

Most companies we back have a live product, early customers, and approximately $30K–$40K in monthly recurring revenue, although the founder and the strength of the opportunity matter more than any single metric. We look for builder-CEOs with deep insight into the problem, a product that becomes more valuable or intelligent with use, and the ambition to build a category-defining company.

We typically invest $2–6 million and lead the round. We invest in U.S.-entity businesses, but the team can be based anywhere.

Value add

Bonfire is an active lead and long-term partner. We help founders with positioning, pricing, GTM, critical hires, organizational decisions, and Series A preparation. Founders also gain access to a close community of B2B founders and operators through peer circles, private Slack channels, events, and direct introductions.

Frequently Asked Questions

We move fast when we have conviction. Our process starts with a partner conversation. From there, we spend meaningful time with the founding team and the product, talk to customers, review early traction, and conduct references. We dig especially deeply into whether the product becomes measurably better the more it is used. Every company we back must clear five questions: Is this a multiplayer problem, or something a frontier model will absorb? Does the value compound with every customer? When a better model ships, does that help you or hurt you? What happens if willingness to pay drops by half? And is the customer buying out of existential need or for a nice-to-have improvement? Ultimately, we are looking for an exceptional team solving an urgent customer problem with the potential to build a durable, category-defining company.
We expect an open, candid partnership. We work best with founders who communicate honestly, engage us early on important decisions, and are willing to have direct conversations about what is and is not working. We are active partners, but the founder remains firmly in the driver’s seat.
Yes. We lead approximately 95% of our investments and typically take a board seat, with a Bonfire partner remaining actively involved as the company grows.
Yes. We reserve roughly half of each fund to continue investing in our portfolio companies through follow-on rounds.
Sometimes. We evaluate every founding team individually and are open to backing exceptional solo founders. We want to understand who is already around you, who you plan to hire next, and how you will build the team the company needs.
The honest answer is a category leader. In AI markets the gap between first and third widens every quarter, so we're underwriting companies we believe can pull away and stay there.
