Nanostar Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm co-led by longtime friends and General Partners Samer Barakat (Ph.D., Purdue), and Sonny Vo (Ph.D., Stanford)

We invest in US-based early stage startups in System AI—innovative AI that empowers the systems we rely on in our everyday lives, including robotics, devices, healthtech, infrastructure, foundational, and complex hardware-software systems.

Leveraging our combined PhD-level technical depth and executive experience, we provide "more than capital," acting as high-conviction partners for founders. Our differentiation lies in our "brain trust" of over 25 PhD-level Limited Partners—including ourselves as GPs. We have successfully won one competitive deal per month, each of whom have foundational technology poised for mass market scaling, mass adoption and societal impact.
