Historically, UC San Diego Innovation accelerators provided sector-specific non-dilutive support including customized entrepreneurship training, expert mentorship and business coaching, customer discovery and market validation, access to university research, prototyping and clinical testing facilities, regulatory and commercialization guidance, industry and investor networking, demo-day exposure, and connections to non-dilutive funding opportunities. Programs such as StartBlue focused on ocean and blue-economy ventures, while Institute for the Global Entrepreneur (IGE) programs supported technology commercialization and market entry, including medical technology.
